Sleeping on the Open Road

Spending the night in your car is something that most Alaskan’s probably prefer to pass up. But on occasion it is the cheapest option and sometimes the only option. Weather you’re nodding off at the wheel and need to grab a quick cat nap or on a road trip and want to save money on overnight room and board, your car can be an option if you are prepared.

Location Location Location
Park in a safe location. You should be away from traffic and a space that allows for overnight parking.

Cover Up
Hang window covers to prevent the sun, traffic and prying eyes.

Crack a Window
By allowing air to enter and circulate throughout your vehicle, you will sleep much more comfortably and avoid waking up feeling stuffy.

Get Comfortable
Arrange yourself in the most comfortable position you can. Whether it’s in the front seat fully reclined or laying down, stretched out in the back seat.

Sleeping in your car isn’t always the best way to get a good night’s sleep, but by following these steps it can make your experience a more comfortable one.
